Last week, I shared a little re-introduction over on Instagram. If you missed it, I reminisced on how this blog got its start—back when my husband and I were tackling over $180,000 in student loan debt.
Once we paid off his law school debt, I was certain we were destined for a life of abundance and wealth. The funny thing about life is that it continues to cost money. We may be free of law school debt, but we certainly keep finding ways to spend our money.
These days with three kids (and their orthodontia bills!), life keeps throwing curveballs. Sound familiar?

Shopping season deals always helps me stay on budget
What’s always helped me stay on track financially is timing big purchases for when they’re on sale. That’s why I’m so excited to bring back my “Best Time to Buy” series!
Let’s kick it off with the best things to buy in January:
1️⃣ Fitness Equipment & Gym Memberships: The New Year brings huge discounts on workout gear and fitness trackers, perfect for tackling resolutions without breaking the bank.
2️⃣ Bedding & Linens: White Sales are here! Stock up on sheets, towels, and cozy essentials at steep discounts. Check out my personal favorite organic cotton bedding here.
3️⃣ Winter Apparel: Coats, boots, and sweaters are hitting the clearance racks to make room for spring collections.
4️⃣ TVs & Electronics: Super Bowl season means big deals on TVs and home entertainment systems. My personal favorite Fire TV box is on sale right now.
5️⃣ Holiday Decor: Stores are clearing out holiday leftovers, from decorations to wrapping paper—perfect for planning ahead for next year. I've even seen people buying 2025 New Years decorations to use for graduation parties. So smart if you have a kid graduating in 2025 (or file this for when you do have a graduate).
